The Arctic, MTV, Rockcrawling, Marathons and Moab

Matt Lewis and Camron Levanger will be finishing up a 2 week tour of guitar and songwriting clinics in the Arctic Circle this week.  As soon as they return home the band will be headed for Moab, UT for a 2 night stint at World Famous Woody’s Tavern.  These shows are destined to attain a spot in the MLB lore book!  Moab is going to be a pretty hip town this weekend.  The MLB doing 2 nights at Woody’s, a Teraflex Jeep rockcrawling event, a marathon, and rumor has it that MTV will be in town filming a show for the weekend.  You won’t want to miss out on this one!

October is a beautiful time to visit Moab, and we hope that plenty of MLB fans will make the trek down to help make this weekend one to remember.  So pass it on, and we hope you all come out to hang out with us.  This will be a great way to say goodbye to what’s left of summer, and celebrate the arrival of another great Utah winter.

Final Shows of the Summer Tour

Thanks Alaska
Well, the Alaska leg of the 2009 MLB summer tour is now behind us, and we are all taking it easy here in UT for a few days trying to recover from what was possibly the best 2 weeks of our lives.  Just when you think Alaskans could never get any more wild, they enthusiastically welcome the opportunity to prove you wrong.  The MLB owes an enormous debt of gratitude to those of you that danced in the streets of Talkeetna, climbed on the speakers and danced on stage in Denali, the folks that waited patiently in the pouring rain trying to get into the Anchorage shows, our gracious hosts and new friends in Nome, and last, but definitely not least, all of our dear friends in Fairbanks that make our Howling Dog shows go off every year!  We truly treasure our friendships and adventures with you guys, and we can’t wait to see you all again.

More Shows
However, the show isn’t over yet.  We still have Oregon and Idaho coming right up, as well as our local CD release party.  Please rally the troops and meet us in Portland on Saturday, or at the Les Schwab Ampitheater in Bend on Sunday.  If you are in Idaho, we’ll be @ The Reef in Boise (advance tickets reccomended), as well as another stop in lovely Sun Valley again soon.

FREE STUFF!!

Want a FREE SHIRT or CD? Well, we have been seeing a lot of live pictures and video being taken this summer.  We definitely encourage this behavior, and we would actually LOVE you to send us any pictures or video you might have of the band on stage.  As most of you know, each and every MLB show is different, from Matt’s blazing freestyle raps, to the band’s extended jams, and even entirely improvised songs written on the spot.  It’s what we love to do, and what you love to see, and we’d like to share it!  We have had some random stuff sent to us over the last year, and we want more.  We love it so much we are calling out to all of you to please send in your videos or pictures.  Send them at will to live@mattlewisband.com, or if your files are too large to email please drop us a quick note and we can make different arrangements for you to upload them.  We will give away FREE SHIRTS or ALBUMS to the best videos we get every week.

NEW ALBUM! Official release date isn’t until 09/09/09, but we are selling the new album at all of our shows, so come out and get your copy early!

Thank you all very much, and we hope to see you soon,

MLB

Who Is Matt Lewis?

Utah-based Matt Lewis Band isn’t just Punk, Hip Hop, Folk Rock, or Reggae, but ask one of their throngs of fans and you could get any one of these for an answer

Attending one of their energetic crowd-pleasing performances led Maroon 5’s lead guitarist James Valentine to proclaim, “You guys completely owned that crowd!

Bassist Chad Bates, drummer Cameron Runyan, and guitarist Jamie Timm came together around Matt Lewis’ ability to freestyle rhymes so quickly that Eminem himself would have trouble keeping pace. Their commanding stage presence always steals the center of attention in the noisiest of artist-unfriendly bars. MLB’s ability to make a crowd forget about their drinks and move their feet is paramount in describing their live performance–a sea of faces either with jaws dropped to the floor or bodies moving in all directions.

MLB has a crossover style that is due to their wide range of influences. Their appeal spans from dyed-hair teenagers with one to many piercings, to college students, as well as those approaching mid-life crisis and beyond. Their catchy tunes and creative lyrics have helped to establish a cult-like following which keeps people coming back for more and bringing new friends each time

MLB could easily fit on bills with Slightly Stupid, Ben Harper, Taking Back Sunday, Jack Johnson, Cypress Hill, and Willie Nelson. Comparisons run amuck from Sublime to Jason Mraz, but MLB can hold their own with any of these artists. Leading MTV video director, Mike Scheartle, announced Matt Lewis Band as “one of the most promising new acts [he had] seen in a long time.

Whether it’s opening for Maroon 5 or headlining the annual Girdwood Forest Fair in Alaska, MLB continues to gain momentum in the Pacific Northwest and is looking to bring their explosive live crowd pleasing performance to the rest of the United States and the world.
